August Block Lotto – Stashbuster

This lotto block has a nifty tutorial here: http://www.littlemissshabby.com/2010/04/stashbuster-block-2-tutorial/ Colors are solid slate/dark gray and the rest is anything goes (just try to mix it up as much as possible with a wide variety of colors, both brights and lights, warm and cool, etc.). Great block for using up some scraps! You can construct it as shown with two gray ‘borders’ and the rest colored squares or change it up and do two colored square ‘borders’ […]

Quilt Show @ Alicia Ashman Library 2015

The MMQG show @ Alicia Ashman Library is set for September and October. Quilts will be hung on Thursday, 9/3 from 6-9p. A few items of note: The library can accommodate only a handful of large (bed-sized) quilts, so most will need to be wall-hanging size. The general theme for this show will be flying geese, any way you want to interpret that. Feel free to bring a quilt that is not part of the theme, […]

Show us your Sewing Space – Lori Magilo

I am in the basement! We just remodeled the basement where I have my new sewing space. This is the view when I’m at my big machine that’s set into a big table. At least it’s bright “out there!” There’s another “sewing station” with a smaller back-up machine. On the left corner you can see my big board on my ironing board – LOVE IT. And I love how I can wheel from the machine […]

May Meeting

Just because I say it every month doesn’t keep it from being true:  I can’t believe that another month has gone by !!!!! Our May meeting featured a special speaker: Klaudeen Hanson, who started the Sun Prairie Quilt Show (one of the two longest running shows in the U.S) and is an internationally renown and respected quilt judge.  During her talk, I alternated between “I’ll NEVER enter a quilt show” and “I could absolutely enter […]

June block lotto

Happy June, warm days, summer is here!  No correlation to this month’s color palette, necessarily, I just liked the way everything played together so well in this photo 🙂  Mustard, eggplant, dark navy, and teal. For the block design you get your choice of two, each one a negative of other.  Or, you can do both!  You can even cut and sew and press the 16 smaller square pieces and decide later which way you prefer, because […]

Show us your Sewing Space – Linda Orr

After years of sewing in basements and attics, in this house, I chose the room with lots of windows. It’s almost like being outdoors (without the weeds and mosquitos). My sewing machine looks into the front yard with my serger to my right. Behind me is the ironing board (still wanting a topper  to give me more space.)       On the end wall are two closets. One has all the fabric wound on […]

Over the past 4 years it has grown so much that this year it will include shops from all 50 states, and several Canadian provinces! Beginning on June 21, 2015, each participating quilt shop will […]
