The bad news is: February was our last meeting in the wonderful Stitcher’s Crossing shop! We will miss all of the fabulous people and, of course, THE FABRIC!!!!!! Thank you so much, Sharon and Stitcher’s Crossing! We will miss you but will certainly be seeing you unofficially for further shopping.
The good news is: we will now be meeting in the much larger space of the Whitney Way HyVee Community Room. There are great plans afoot for future meetings! We “pay” for the space by eating from the HyVee restaurant/deli….if you are so inclined, grab something on your way up to the meeting (there are tables in the meeting room) or eat it downstairs and then come upstairs. Enter HyVee through the left hand door/Market Deli side of the building . The stairs and elevator are on the immediate left.
We announced a new board position: Web Coordinator, which will be filled by Wendy Franzak! She missed us so much since her term as president ended in December.
We are still looking for more people to become a Charity Committee. The new committee will have the opportunity to design a committee…..pet friendly, multiple projects, one project….do YOU have a vision? There is already one volunteer waiting for others to join in with her…..
The previous committee is still processing a backlog of Superhero quilts and a Quilt of Valor. Those quilts will NOT be dumped on the new committee unless there is a lot of begging involved.
Block lotto was drawn for the months of January and February.
The January half-square triangle blocks went to Lori who won 279 blocks! We can’t wait to see what you do with all those blocks!
The February pinwheel block lotto went to Heather. Congrats Heather!
June and July our guild will be populating the Alicia Ashman Branch Library with our dazzling works of art! We will be hanging quilts of all sizes for the two month period with no particular theme except to remember that we are the MODERN Quilt Guild. As you complete quilts, please save one for the show! Don’t give them all away.
As usual, Show and Tell was filled with quite a variety of goodies:
