March Meeting Minutes: 3/14/2024

Announcements:

*There are only six seats left for The Great Escape retreat at the Hilton Garden Inn in Middleton, April 19-21, 2024. You can register on the website.

-Can you pay to sign up for a single day? No. There is just the one price for all 3 days. You could choose to pay and not attend all three days. If you are looking for a single day option, stay tuned for information about the fall retreat.

* The guild calendar is up to date with all events, swaps, etc. Virtual events include the Zoom links. Find the calendar on the guild website.

Upcoming events:

*Layer cake swap – quiet low volumes, 40 10”x10” squares, limit of 4 squares per print (due April 11th)

*Block lotto is back! ROY G BIV toadstools (any color of the rainbow), due May 9th

-Blocks must be physically present at the May guild meeting to qualify. There will be no online form for block lotto. If you can’t be present at the meeting, send them with a friend, a guild board member, or contact Casey to mail them to her prior to the meeting.

*Sewcial Sew at the Electric Needle, April 6th  from 10am-2pm (8 spots, make sure to sign up early if you want to go and sew!)

*The following Sewcial Sew will be on May 4th in Sun Prairie (watch your guild email for more details on signing up).

More Me Know – Lauren Mormino (from Belleville, IL), @moremeknow

Lauren gave a presentation about she got started in bag making and provided an overview of her website and business. She has been making bags for about eight years and has been creating bag making tutorials for almost seven years. Lauren designs and sells fabric on different substrates for making bags, sells bag hardware, and other notions via her website. She also offers in-person classes in her newly finished classroom in Belleville, IL where students have the chance to sew on and learn how to use industrial sewing machines for bag making.

Meeting Wrap Up:

*We finished up the meeting with door prize drawings and a robust in-person and virtual show & tell. Thank you to everyone who brought fabulous finishes to share with the guild members!
