A Berry Good Idea!

Iris enjoying a fresh picked berry at Red Door Family Farm.

Summer is here and it’s time for shorts, sunscreen and STRAWBERRIES!!! This time of year offers many wonderful things, but one of my favorites has to be fresh picked strawberries. I think they might also be one of Marian Stimson’s favorites too, because she sent me a link to a berry fun pattern!

It’s a quilt designed by Elizabeth Hartman and the pattern can be downloaded for free on the Robert Kaufman site here. The instructions are great and easy to follow. For block lotto dig into your stash, and let’s make our berries some shade of red and our stems green. Either fabric can be a pattern, texture or solid. For the background, let’s use an off white solid or low volume.

The winner for these block will be drawn at our July meeting on Thursday, July 8th. Your name will be entered for every block you make, so get pickin’…..er…piecing!!!

I will be making a couple of these blocks for sure, and I will post them to our Facebook group when I do. If you too make a berry block, please share with the rest of us. I love being inspired by all of you! Happy Summer!!!
