November 2016 Meeting Recap

The November Mad Mod meeting was held the 10th.

There were 45 people in attendance; 16 were visitors!!!! (Two of whom joined after the meeting)

Natalie, chair of the MQG Charity Quilt Challenge, discussed what is ahead and asked for the committee to meet briefly after the general meeting.  The finished quilt is to be mailed early in February.

Wendy talked about the Mad Mod  survey which was conducted earlier in the fall.  There was no overwhelming feeling one way or another on the issues of dues and the value of belonging to the MQG.  Further discussion will be done on the Board level and possible recommendations could come from that.  To be continued…..

The yearly election of officers was held.  There are three elected positions:

  • Treasurer: Dayna (first term)
  • President: Linda (third and last term)
  • Secretary: nomination not in time for vote; Margaret will be voted on at the December meeting.

The terms run with the calendar year and are for one year, renewable twice.  Both candidates were elected.

Maday will be the Charity Chair for 2017 and she is fizzing with ideas!  First off is for anyone with scraps (!!!!!) to make a string block that can be trimmed to 12 1/2″.  We all have them!  This would make a great “leader-ender” project!

This month we had a presentation by Penny from Quilt-agious in Mukwanago.  The shop specializes in Kaffe Fassett fabric. Here are the highlights from Penny’s presentation as well as members who brought in their own projects made with Kaffe fabrics.

Penny showed MANY quilts made with Kaffe fabrics and she brought fabrics, books and patterns to sell. What could be better!  Thank you, Penny!

After Penny’s presentation we had Sew (Show) and tell.  Every month we encourage members to share their projects at the monthly meeting.  Check out what everyone has been working on!
