May 2026 Meeting Minutes

May Meeting Minutes 5/14/2026

Presentation: Schoolhouse – Cutting

Eileen demonstrated use of the AccuQuilt Go cutter. Remember, the guild has a cutter and a selection of dies that you can check out and use for free. You can ask for it at a meeting, take it home, and bring it back with you to the meeting the following month. List of dies can be found here.

Angerla demonstrated the WonderCurve Ruler. This ruler can cut drunkard’s path quarter circle shapes and also an elongated curve shape and includes marks to help you square up the block after piecing. There is a wide variety of patterns you can purchase to use with this ruler.

Tracy demonstrated the Hex ‘N More Ruler. This ruler can cut triangles, half hexies, hexagons, and jewel shapes. Tracy has made a lot of quilts using this ruler and the wide variety of patterns available to go with it.

Laura demonstrated the Stripology Ruler. This ruler is so helpful for cutting – strips, binding, sub-cutting strips, and even cutting angled pieces. There is a book for sale that explains how to use the ruler, and Laura also teaches a class Blue Bar that goes much more in depth about all you can do with the ruler.

Outreach: 110 completed pillowcases for Ryan’s Case for Smiles have been turned in! Thank you, everyone!! We initially set a goal to have 100 completed pillowcases by our June meeting. Since we have surpassed this number, our new goal is to have 150 pillowcases complete by the June meeting. Please continue to work on making pillowcases. Reach out to Vicky Herring. If you can’t attend the June meeting, pillowcases can by dropped off at Blue Bar – just ask any staff member working to put it under Vicky’s desk.

Instructions from Ryan’s Case for Smiles found here

Bylaws:

The guild needed to make some updates to our bylaws to align with current Modern Quilt Guild standards. Watch your email for the current version of our bylaws and our proposed updated version of bylaws. Guild members will need to vote on the updated bylaws at our June meeting, so please review the documents prior to the meeting. Email the guild board members with any questions you may have before the meeting.
