Hello and welcome to our September meeting recap! As usual, if you want all the dirty details read the meeting minutes. Here are the highlights:
MAD MOD Happenings
- Dues, DUE! During our next two meetings, our fearless treasurer Dayna will be collecting 2018 dues. Bring those checkbooks! (Or pay a small fee to renew via paypal.)
- Election time is upon us! Elections will take place at the November meeting. If you would like to nominate someone for an officer position, deadline is 10/12 (October meeting). Current unopposed nomiees are:
- Dayna, President
- Catherine, Treasurer
- Margaret, Secretary
- Volunteers Needed! Wish we did more cool stuff? That can only happen with your help! Email madmodquiltguild@gmail.com to learn more about any position below:
- Events – 1-2 people are needed to build fellowship in the guild (e.g. block lotto, sew days, swaps, etc.) Email madmodquiltguild@gmail.com if you’re interested in working on the events committee.
- Charity – is a really open and flexible opportunity for any person willing to coordinate and organize charity projects.
- WordPress/Facebook – We are looking for someone knowledgeable in these areas or willing to learn so Wendy can be a civilian again.
Blue Bar Quilt Announcements:
- You’re invited to a late night sewing party September 22. Register
- MMQG member David Armour’s quilts are on display in the gallery. Reception is Friday 9/29.
Mill House Quilts: Mill House has a modern quilt club that meets the 3rd Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. They pick a book and work on making blocks and assembling. The club is evolving, so check it out if you’re interested.
Prairie Lakes Guild: Join them for a Nov 7 workshop with Kathy Geier (Landscape Quilts) $40 for workshop, $25 for kit. Email QDianaB@gmail.com to sign up
A Day for Sewists with a Heart – Wendy A.
Saturday, 11/11/17 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. with lunch provided – a small donation will be appreciated At McFarland United Church of Christ 5710 Anthony St., McFarland

You’ll make bags (goal is two per person) for the McFarland HS Food Pantry and the McFarland Village Food Pantry. Bring along your other sewing. Wendy will bring fabric and patterns, but feel free to bring patterns and fabric as well.
Quilt Show: Linda is working on getting the MMQG into the Monona Library for an exhibit at the end of January 2018. They could take 30+ quilts.
Block lotto: There are 37 blocks! Jenn won! The challenge for next month will be free form: make blocks with blue backgrounds and yellow stars (small or large, wonky or patterned…whatever you want to make. Don’t overthink it!
Book Reports Due! This month we asked guests to bring in and tell us all about their favorite quilting or sewing book. A detailed report of this is in the minutes. These are the books:
