February Sewing Retreat
- We had so much fun at the first MMQG retreat at the Jones Mansion that another retreat is already on the schedule! The second retreat will be February 18 – February 21. Check Facebook for the event page that contains all the sign-up info.
- Send your deposit to Lori Bartol in order to secure your spot – don’t delay! There are only 14 spots!
Quilt Show at Madison College

General News and Information
Changes to Bylaws
- The membership in attendance at the November meeting ratified the proposed change of event coordinators from elected to appointed positions as well as the addition of other appointed positions. The appointed positions can begin and end at any time.
- The new bylaws read as follows: “The Guild shall have an elected President, Secretary and Treasurer; appointed members may include but not be limited to: a) web coordinator(s) b) event coordinator(s) c) charity coordinator(s)”

Scrap Swap
Congrats to everyone who participated in the scrap swap challenge! Everyone made such creative and special things for their partner!
Celeste and Sue
- Celeste made Sue a bag with envelope closures that opens on two sides
- Sue made Celeste a tote bag and a pillow using the half-square triangle blocks Celeste provided
Jessica and Trina
- Trina made Jessica a zip bag (with candy!) and a fabric basket
- Jessica made Trina a trivet/hot pad in bright oranges, greens and yellows and small modern wall quilt
Linda and Sara
- Linda made Sara a ‘sew together’ bag with black and white prints on the outside and bright colors in the interior zipped pockets
- Sara made Linda an blue apron with green trim and featuring an appliqué pocket
Sew and Tell
Megan – Baby quilt top for newborn niece Ella. Machine appliqué birds on branches offset with floral columns in fuchsia/blues/purples/gray/cream. Mini quilt Disco pattern by Jaybird Quilts in bright colors.
Gloria – Contemporary tuffet in navy/turquoise/citron/plum/cream, fabrics bought at Sewcial Lounge, made in class with Cheryl Schenk.
Diana – Two superhero charity quilts done in star design on her Gammill Statler machine.
Joan – Yellow and gray twin sister block baby/wall quilt top.
Sue – Umbrella in tiny pin-dots and green w/ roses fabrics. Made in guild class at Bungalow Quilts taught by Judy Gauthier.
Jessica – Improv quilt top in vibrant reds & fuchsias. Beginning rows of a bright w/ black & white contemporary quartered triangle blocks. Improv bandana quilt top in purple/black/white inspired by a bandana found in her hallway.
Amy – Bright, fun improv pieced and machine quilted notebook cover.
Dayna – Striking black & off-white printed umbrella made in guild class at Bungalow Quilts taught by Judy Gauthier. Dimensional multicolored kaleidoscope design quilt made for Project Quilting Focus Through the Prism monthly challenge.
Jennifer – Hand dyed indigo improv 9 patch wall quilt hand quilted in white sashiko thread with a circular medallion pattern made up of a variety of stitch patterns.
Trudy – King size Atkinson Designs Tortilla Strips pattern quilt in coral/turquoise/avocado/red on off white background. Machine quilted in Baptist fan design by Stitchlilly.
Linda – Wool tartan tuffet made in class with Cheryl Schenk. Blue & green improv blocks made at MMQG Jones Mansion retreat to use in charity quilts and possibly pet beds. Fabric collage calendar art made as a model for class at Monona Library.
Amy – Crazy Mom Quilts flour sack towel technique made with mini charm border. Advent calendar made from kit purchased at Quilt Expo bound in fun gold lame fabric, 24 pockets will be filled with chocolates and gifted to her sister.
