April 2017 Meeting Recap

VERY IMPORTANT notice about the May meeting:

Join us at 6:30 p.m. on May 11 for the next MMQG meeting at Blue Bar Quilts (6333 University Ave, Middleton, WI 53562). Blue Bar Quilts will officially open for business on April 24.

Yep, this was our last meeting at the Hyvee on Whitney Way. So long, Hyvee…thanks for the space and the memories! Check out the detailed minutes from the meeting on the Meetings page.

The charity quilt was back! This quilt was created by guild members and proudly displayed at QuiltCON in Savannah, GA in February. It will be donated to RSVP and find a new home in the Madison community.

Presentation:

Judy Gauthier, Author and Owner of Bungalow Quilting and Yarn, visited our meeting from Ripon. Judy is the author of: Quilts for Scrap Lovers (16 patterns) and Rainbow Quilts for Scrap Lovers (12 patterns, with tips for organizing scraps). Her third book is in progress. The patterns in her books utilize square scraps in three sizes: 3.5, 4.5 and 5.5 inches.

Judy demonstrated efficient cutting for a couple of the patterns in her book using her templates and showed quilts made from scraps. Check out quilts from her books on Instagram:  #quiltsforscraplovers & #rainbowquiltsforscraplovers

Bungalow Quilting and Yarn stocks supplies for unique projects, including umbrella frames, rolling window shades that can be embellished with quilts, and lamp shade frames. Coming soon: a Facebook live session demonstrating the rolling window shades. Thanks for the scrappy quilt inspiration, Judy!
